In Focus Photography By: Nicole - mini sessions raise money for brain tumour researchIn Focus Photography By: Nicole is a photography business based in Grey-Huron-Bruce area of Ontario. In October 2011, Nikki Mulkern, the owner of the business started a cause marketing relationship with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

This partnership has led to the business offering 'photography mini sessions' to clients where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the organization. It was a personal passion for the cause that brought Nikki to this unique partnership:

"On June 5th,  2011 my Mom, Renate Kebbert passed away of a brain tumour and October of that year I decided to create a fundraiser that I would do anually in my Mom's name," she explains.

In 2013, Nikki has offered 27 sessions raising $1,110 for the organization. She says, "My goal in doing these mini sessions is to not only raise money but to raise awareness of brain tumours. I hope that the money I raise can help with researching cures as well as find better treatment options for all patients - and especially for the type of brain tumour my Mom had."

"These are truly my favourite sessions that I do every year, and I love that I do them to honour not only an amazing woman, but the best Mom I could have ever asked for!"

Youth Education Award recipient update

This my update since completing University: Since being diagnosed with a brain tumour, life has not been easy for me; University was no exception. I had my fair share of struggles during my time in school. I failed some and struggled in most classes, but overall, I had a great experience. I found myself taking on a new set of challenges, and changing my original plan of majoring in psychology, to double majoring in psychology and gerontology with a minor in French.
