Upcoming Symposium Events

2019 HCP Symposium events:

Calgary - Friday, April 26, 2019

Montreal - Monday, May 13, 2019

Vancouver - Friday, June 7, 2019

Halifax - Wednesday, October 30, 2019

HCP symposiums bring you the latest updates in brain tumour treatments, patient care and research. In addition, these events provide health care professionals cross-disciplinary opportunities to network, learn, and share knowledge with peers.

Comments from past symposium participants:

“It was really nice to have the patient view. Please include next time”

“Please continue to offer these symposiums! They are educational and so very interesting”

“I will definitely make certain my patients have information regarding the brain tumour support groups and contacts…I left feeling much more passionate about my role”

“I incorporated information I learned at this education day into my practice already as a CNE! I spoke about brain tumours at our staff recertification and shared information about immunotherapy and cognitive considerations”

“I have been sharing what I learned with my colleagues in our huddles. I actually got the nurses to start giving out the Brain Tumour Handbook to our patients. Before this, I was the only one talking to the patient and family because they felt awkward and afraid to start conversations around the topic. Now they see the value of sharing resources”

“I now have a better understanding of non-malignant tumours and the long-term impact of brain tumours. Will use this information to guide my conversations and treatment planning with patients”

“Thank you for a great information session. It is nice to be able to collaborate and network with other health care professionals from other hospitals.”

"Very good speakers! Thank you so much for organizing this workshop.”

Janet and Adam's Story: Beating the odds to share another birthday together

Turning the same age, on the same day as my husband, never gets old. They call us, Astro-Twins. According to many different sources, the odds were low that it would have lasted. His Auntie May discouraged it from the start saying, “You are both Sagittarians and should NOT be together.” My daughter Isobel did a quick calculation. Fun fact. In a group of 100 people there is a 2.8% chance of two people having the same birthday.
